GROUND PENETRATING RADAR

We use the latest GPR technology to locate post-tension cables and/or rebar within hardened concrete prior to core drilling for electrical outfitting, plumbing, duct work, fire protection services, and drain installation. Once ACS has located items in your concrete structure, we will map a grid onto the concrete to guide you as you drill. Utilizing this service will prevent damage to the integrity of the structure as our non-invasive technology eliminates the need for repair or patch work.

Ground penetrating radar equipment does just as it sounds it sends out radar waves which penetrate the concrete or asphalt. These waves hit the reinforcing cables, steel rebar and other objects within the concrete and asphalt then bounces back. This allows the technician to map a grid of what lies below

GPR CONCRETE THICKNESS

In the past, core extraction was the most common way to measure the thickness of a concrete slab. There are several issues with this method, though. It creates holes in the slab, for one. It also does not account for variances in the thickness across the slab. It is also time-consuming and labor-intensive. Next time use GPR for accurate measurements.

GPR uses no harmful radiation and no need to evacuate your project when using GPR.

From Tenant Improvements to New Construction, we provide concrete scanning services for a range of purposes:
Identifying rebar, post-tension cables, conduits and utilites
Estimating slab thickness
Detecting voids
Providing structural inspections

Ground Penetrating Radar is a geophysical method that uses radar pulses to image a subsurface objects. This non-destructive method uses electromagnetic radiation in the microwave band (UHF/VHF frequencies) of the radio spectrum, and detects the reflected signals from subsurface materials.   We use GPR to detect subsurface objects in hardened concerte and to detect voids in CMU walls.

GPR IN MANY USES

locating live electrical wires
in concrete

If locating live electricty in hardened concrete or in sheetrock walls, ACS has the technology to help you avoid cutting into live electricty and potentially to eleminate an accident involving an employee.

Several times we have been called after a line has been cut. One of our clients told us that he could have avoided a $12,000 mistake if he would have had us check the area before cutting.

Avoid a disaster, call us before you cut or core into an unseen area.

We clearly laid the target area out so that our client could proceed with coring.
Our customers rely on our experiance and knowledge to provide reliable, non-destructive locating prior to drilling, cutting and coring. Our GPR technicians excel at identifying subsurface items, such as voids, rebar, conduit and post-tension cables
